Making Life Better Together

Active Belfast

This May, Active Belfast is encouraging all workplaces to take part in a sustainable journey competition – the Active Belfast Challenge – with other organisations from across the city.

A sustainable journey could include replacing your usual car journey by walking, cycling, taking public transport or car sharing. This challenge is open to all workplaces in Belfast and will be an opportunity for healthy competition between workplaces, and also between teams within workplaces.

If your work location is not included and you would like it added, please contact Claire McLernon at Sustrans: Claire.McLernon@sustrans.org.uk or telephone 028 9043 4569.

To register for the challenge simply visit www.abc.getmeactive.org.uk enter your details, with your work location, and then complete the short survey. The website has additional information and downloadable resources.

During May, remember to log each sustainable journey you make, or if you have a smart phone why not download the supporting app and use your phone’s GPS to track your journey for you. By logging active and sustainable journeys, participants will also be entered into a series of weekly prize draws, with a range of prizes on offer.

This competition is part of the Public Health Agency funded Active Workplaces Programme and contributes to the Belfast Active Travel Action Plan.
