Making Life Better Together

Put a spring in your Step!

Active people are more likely to live longer and healthier lives and to retain their independence throughout life.

The Chief Medical Officer recommends that we should be doing at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most days of the week. Even 10 minutes a day can make a difference, as any activity is better than none at all.

Walking is a perfect example of a moderate intensity activity, and as well as being free of charge and carrying a low risk of injury, it is also accessible regardless of age, location or income.

Walking is a realistic goal for inactive people, and combines all the physical benefits of activity with an opportunity for social contact and support.

If you would be interested in joining an existing walking group or attending Walk Leader Training to enable you to lead walks in your local area in Belfast, please contact Margaret Devlin-Hania from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust Margaret.devlin-hania@belfasttrust.hscni.net  or telephone 028 9504 6580.
